About The Position

Instructional Assistant IIIs support severe/emotionally disturbed students. This role involves working with students who have a Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs, students designated as an emotionally disturbed (ED) class or an autism class, or assisting individual students assigned to a Behaviorist. The position requires candidates with relevant experience and training to perform the job duties effectively.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience and training that provides the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties.
  • Experience working with groups of children.
  • Pre-qualify by attaching one documentation [A, B, C, or D item] from the following list: [A] Passing score from SJUSD's Proficiency Exam (testing date must be April 2005 to current), [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST), [C] OFFICIAL transcripts demonstrating the completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units), or [D] Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher).
  • If degree/transcripts are from a foreign college or university, coursework must be evaluated for its equivalency to a degree/transcripts from an accredited United States college or university.
  • Applications must be complete, include requested information on the application (not 'see resume'), and be signed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with impaired children or adults highly desirable.
  • Coursework in child development highly desirable.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license (in some programs).
