About The Position

Instructional Assistant IIIs support severe/emotionally disturbed students. This role involves working with students who have a Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs, students designated as an emotionally disturbed (ED) class or an autism class, or assisting individual students assigned to a Behaviorist. The position requires candidates with relevant experience and training to perform the job duties effectively.

Requirements

Relevant experience and training that provides the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties.
Experience working with groups of children.
Pre-qualify by attaching one documentation [A, B, C, or D item] from the following list: [A] Passing score from SJUSD's Proficiency Exam (testing date must be April 2005 to current), [B] Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST), [C] OFFICIAL transcripts demonstrating the completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units), or [D] Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher).
If degree/transcripts are from a foreign college or university, coursework must be evaluated for its equivalency to a degree/transcripts from an accredited United States college or university.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with impaired children or adults highly desirable.
Coursework in child development highly desirable.
Willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license (in some programs).
