About The Position

Instructional Assistant IIIs support students with severe emotional disturbances. This role involves working with students who have learning handicaps or communicatively handicaps programs, or students designated as emotionally disturbed, in an autism class, or assigned to a behaviorist for individual assistance. The position requires experience working with groups of children and is highly desirable for candidates with experience working with impaired children or adults. Coursework in child development is also highly desirable. Some programs may require possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain, a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license.

Requirements

Relevant experience and training that provides the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties.
Experience working with groups of children.
Passing score from SJUSD's Proficiency Exam (testing date must be April 2005 to current) OR Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST) OR Official transcripts demonstrating the completion of two years of college (48 semester/60 quarter units) OR Proof of an A.A. degree (or higher).
If foreign degree/transcripts, coursework must be evaluated for equivalency to a degree/transcripts from an accredited U.S. college or university.
Valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license (required for some programs).
