About The Position

Under the direct supervision of a certificated employee, provides assistance in instructional activities and general supervision of students in a physical education setting. Performs a variety of tasks to support the instructional program. Assists students with physical activities, equipment, and general classroom management. May assist with grading, record keeping, and communication with parents. Ensures a safe and orderly environment for students participating in physical education activities.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Associate of Arts degree; OR completion of 48 semester hours of college coursework; OR passage of the Paraprofessional Assessment (a score of 461 or higher on the WorkKeys assessment).
Six (6) months of experience working with children in an instructional or supervisory capacity.
Knowledge of basic child development and behavior.
Ability to assist with physical activities and demonstrate exercises.
Ability to maintain discipline and manage student behavior.
Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of various sports and physical activities.

Responsibilities

Assists certificated personnel in providing instruction and supervision to students in physical education activities.
Supervises students during physical education classes, ensuring their safety and participation.
Assists students with the use of physical education equipment and materials.
Helps to maintain a clean, organized, and safe physical education environment.
May assist with record keeping, such as attendance and student progress.
Communicates with students, staff, and parents as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
