About The Position
This position is for an Instructional Assistant II (6 hours) at Katherine Johnson Middle School. The role involves working with students served in Resource, Learning Handicap, or Communicatively Handicap programs. Typical duties include running small groups, assisting students in large groups in both Special Day Class settings or General Education, and supporting the teacher's needs. We are looking for candidates with any combination of experience and training that provides the candidate with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties.
Requirements

- Instructional Assistant II's mild/moderate - working with students served in Resource, Learning Handicap or Communicatively Handicap programs.
- Possession of, or willingness and ability to obtain a valid California Class C Driver License within 30 days of hire or before driving any equipment/vehicle requiring this license
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Passing score from San Juan Unified School District's Proficiency Exam (testing date must be April 2005 to current) OR Official passing score from the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST)
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with groups of children
- Experience working with impaired children or adults highly desirable
- Coursework in child development highly desirable
