About The Position

SUMMARY: The Regular Education Instructional Assistant (IA) position works at the direction of building Principals and teachers to perform a variety of tasks supporting students through the school day. Responsibilities may include: monitoring activities with students, assisting teachers with classroom management, lunchroom & recess duties, assisting students individually or in small groups with organization skills, staying on task, academic support as well as providing social/emotional guidance when needed - performing all related work deemed necessary to support students as assigned by teachers and/or supervising school staff. Position functions as part of a team, working directly with students, teachers and school staff to perform all duties with accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • For Title I positions - Must pass for "highly qualified" as mandated by NCLB.
  • Must have the ability to relate effectively with students, staff and public in a professional manner.
  • PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance
  • PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance
  • PA Department of Education FBI
  • TB Screening
  • Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcripts

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree - preferred
  • Prior public-school experience and/or working with school-aged children in a licensed, certified, or registered provider setting - preferred
