About The Position

Under general supervision, the Instructional Assistant I, Special Education assists teachers or other certificated staff with instructional support and supervision of individual students and small groups across a variety of subject areas. The position monitors student behavior and performance and performs assigned classroom-related clerical duties. Its primary emphasis is direct assistance to students rather than clerical support.

Requirements

• Equivalent to a high school diploma.
• Completion of two years of higher education study, possession of an Associate's or higher-level degree, or passing an assessment demonstrating knowledge of and ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics or reading, writing, and mathematics readiness.
• One year of experience tutoring students or working as a teacher's aide in a classroom.
• Successful experience demonstrating tact, courtesy, and a positive attitude, and maintaining cooperative relationships with people contacted during work.
• Valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Cover letter and resume.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a child development education course.
