About The Position

Join our team as an Instructional Assistant at Pelham Elementary School! Home to more than 1,600 students, the Pelham School District is composed of Pelham Elementary School serving preschool through grade 5, Pelham Memorial School serving students in grades 6 through 8, and Pelham High School serving students in grades 9 through 12. Under the supervision of certified educators, the Kindergarten Assistant supports classroom teachers in creating a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for kindergarten students.

Requirements

High Diploma required.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree or higher preferred.
Previous experience working within Education preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Supporting students during classroom instruction, centers, and small-group activities
Reinforcing teacher directions, classroom routines, and positive behavior expectations
Assisting students with transitions, arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other daily routines
Providing individual or small-group support as directed by the classroom teacher
Helping prepare, organize, and maintain classroom materials and learning spaces
Encouraging student independence, social-emotional development, and positive peer interactions
Supervising students and supporting student safety throughout the school day
Collaborating with classroom teachers and other staff to meet student needs
Maintaining student confidentiality and following all school and district procedures
