About The Position

Provide instructional and behavioral support in classrooms as determined by the building administrator and the teacher. Assist with emergency procedures and protocol. Supervise students in social and developmental activities. Provide one-on-one or small group instruction for students as needed. Implement lessons or programs as directed. Assist with age-appropriate individual and group experiences to support learning in all content areas. Support smooth transitions and consistency in routines while meeting varying individual student needs. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, parents, and administration. Work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Participate in professional development. Complete other duties as assigned through the immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or its recognized equivalent
  • Completed two years of study (48 credit hours) at an institution of higher education; or Hold an associate's (or higher) degree; or Have passed the Parapro Assessment through ETS.
  • Proof of highly qualified certification must be attached to your application to be considered for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as an instructional assistant in a public school system or experience working with groups of children
  • Basic reading, writing, and computation skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
