About The Position
Grand Canyon University is seeking a skilled Debate Coach Assistant to provide reliable support to the Director in all areas of coaching for debates for the Grand Canyon University Speech and Debate Team. This role is part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Two years of competition or coaching experience in NPDA debate, IPDA debate, and/or AFA/NFA individual events.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
Nice To Haves
- Four years of competition or coaching experience in intercollegiate speech and debate
- Qualified to elimination rounds at the National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence, National Parliamentary Debate Association Championship Tournament, IPDA or Speech National Championships.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and coach weekly practice.
- Assist in debate case construction.
- Travel in and out-of-state with the team (up to 10 tournaments per year).
- Judge tournaments.
- Assist with administrative tasks associated with team budget and travel expenses.
- Other duties as assigned.
