About The Position

Aiken County Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide to support students with diverse learning needs and help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The aide works closely with teachers and students in a collaborative, supportive classroom environment, helping foster student independence, confidence, and growth. The role offers ongoing training and resources, as well as an opportunity to build experience and develop professionally in education. This position is for 7.5 hours per day over 181 days. Employment terms are based on full-time work during the school year; terms may be adjusted for part-time employees or individuals hired for less than the entire school year. Pay is on Level 107 Pay Scale.

Meet Highly Qualified standards as defined by the Every Student Succeeds Act: an associate degree is preferred, or a high school diploma or general education degree with 60 hours of college credit from an accredited college, or a passing score on the ParaPro exam.
Experience working with children is preferred but not required; the posting also lists experience working with children among its qualifications.

Responsibilities

Support students in group and one-on-one settings with academic tasks, social skills, and classroom activities.
Help maintain a positive classroom environment.
Provide hands-on assistance during lessons, projects, and classwork.
Monitor and record student progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
Foster a caring, empathetic atmosphere in which students feel safe, encouraged, and understood.
