About The Position

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide at Lake Erie Preparatory School in Cleveland, Ohio. The school serves families in Collinwood and nearby neighborhoods and provides an EK-8 college-preparatory education featuring foreign language, STEM, and Career Technical Education. Lake Erie Preparatory School is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving K-12 students. The Instructional Aide assists the Teacher with classroom activities and helps promote positive student behavior in academic and extracurricular settings. The role provides oversight to support student safety and a positive school climate, and assists the School Leader and Teachers in carrying out assigned duties in accordance with ACCEL Schools’ and the school’s philosophy and policies, the governing board, the State Board of Education, and applicable laws.

Requirements

Associate degree, two years of college coursework, or passage of the Paraprofessional’s Exam.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Successful completion of a BCI/FBI check.
Ability to meet educational standards as applicable.
Ability to work well under pressure and effectively prioritize and execute tasks to consistently meet deadlines.
Understanding of and ability to manage confidential information.
High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
Physical ability to lift 25–40 lbs.

Responsibilities

Support lessons taught by the Teacher to individuals or groups and follow instructional plans as assigned by the Teacher or School Leader.
Help plan classroom activities as directed by the Teacher and support the Teacher in student and parent relations.
Assist with school activities, including parent-faculty nights, faculty meetings, assemblies, commencement exercises, fundraisers, chaperoning student activities, providing student guidance, and participating on faculty committees.
Perform clerical duties, including grading papers and making copies.
Assist the Teacher in using classroom technology.
Help maintain the cleanliness of the classroom, lunchroom, and other school areas.
Understand, accept, abide by, and implement the school’s philosophy and mission statement in school activities.
Perform other assigned duties, including field trips, morning duty, dismissal duty, and lunch duty.
Work cooperatively with the Teacher and others.
Act in accordance with directives from the Administrator or designee and the Teacher.
Contribute to a positive climate and culture by exhibiting high professional standards.
