About The Position

This is a Title I, Part A funded position to provide additional support to students in need of assistance to reach their potential. Provide support services to enhance academic, social, and emotional learning. Work under the direct supervision of teacher(s), and the campus principal to offer STEM educational opportunities in the area of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Requirements

Associate’s degree, two years of study (48 college hours) at an institute of higher learning, or meet formal academic assessment
Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Ability to assist with classroom instruction
Ability to work well with children
Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational, and interpersonal skills
Experience working with children

Responsibilities

Demonstrate the ability to model and deliver student-centered learning experiences around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Demonstrate fundamental knowledge or the connection between technology, computer science, and other fields of study.
Under teacher supervision, provide instruction and additional support to enhance academic, social, and emotional learning to students in small group settings.
Provide project/problem-based learning (PBL), design thinking, and authentic learning opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math.
Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Assist in conducting parent involvement activities and encourage family engagement.
Assist with classroom management.
Supervise students throughout the day, inside and outside the classroom.
Keep teacher informed of special needs and issues of individual students.
Participate in professional learning activities to improve job-related skills and demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and special events as assigned.
Establish and maintain appropriate communication and a professional relationship with students, families, and colleagues.
Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the district and demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible as set out in the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
Maintain strict confidentiality of student and district information.
