About The Position
The Instructional Aide I will assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment to ensure effective student learning. This role involves working with individual students or small groups, reinforcing learned material, and assisting in developing strategies tailored to student needs. The aide will also manage classroom equipment, distribute materials, guide independent study, and supervise students during various activities and routines. Maintaining ethical conduct and confidentiality is crucial, as is assisting substitute teachers and performing clerical tasks as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Sixty (60) college credits or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment taken within last 10 years required.
- Ability to work harmoniously with staff and students.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working with students preferred.
Responsibilities
- Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on a sympathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities.
- Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
- Distributes and collects workbooks, papers and other materials for instruction.
- Guides independent study, enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, lunch periods and field trips.
- Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
- Participates in inservice training programs as assigned.
- Alerts the regular teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
- Assists with lunch, snack and cleanup routines.
- Performs clerical tasks.
- Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.
