About The Position

The Institutional Services Assistant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of office buildings, classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, auditoriums, residence halls, dining facilities, common areas, and other assigned locations. This position performs general custodial duties to support a safe, clean, and welcoming environment and operates in accordance with applicable state and federal laws, as well as institutional policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Experience with custodial cleaning methods and procedures.
• Experience using cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment in a safe and effective manner.

Responsibilities

• Removes and disposes of waste from receptacles; cleans, sanitizes, and relines trash containers daily or as needed; operates trash compactors.
• Cleans and dusts furniture, including desks, tables, cabinets, and other surfaces.
• Cleans walls, windows, window sills, stairwells, entryways, and other building surfaces as needed.
• Sweeps, mops, buffs, and vacuums floors; shampoos carpets; cleans baseboards; and dusts or wipes furniture, appliances, fixtures, ceiling fans, and whiteboards/blackboards.
• Strips, waxes, and buffs floors according to established schedules or as needed.
• Cleans and sanitizes restroom facilities and replenishes supplies, including soap, toilet tissue, and paper towels.
• Cleans and sanitizes areas requiring specialized cleaning methods, using appropriate cleaning agents, disinfectants, sterilization equipment, and procedures for handling and disposing of contaminated materials.
• Assists with the setup and breakdown of special events and performs post-event cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
