The Institutional Pharmacist PRN is responsible for preparing and dispensing medication orders accurately and efficiently according to established policies and procedures. This role involves providing drug information to healthcare professionals, patients, and families, ensuring safe and cost-effective medication therapies, and documenting all activities. The position also plays a crucial role in detecting and reporting adverse drug reactions and medication errors, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and assisting with pharmacokinetic consults and antibiotic appropriateness reviews. Additionally, the Institutional Pharmacist PRN supervises pharmacy technicians, provides input for performance appraisals, and may perform the duties of the pharmacy director in their absence. Adherence to all health system policies, safety regulations, and legal requirements is mandatory. The role also involves active participation in department meetings, hospital committees, and assisting with new hire orientation and training.
