About The Position

The Institutional Giving Manager leads Hennepin Arts’ institutional fundraising efforts by cultivating relationships with foundations, government agencies, and other institutional funders; developing compelling funding proposals; and managing the grant lifecycle. This highly collaborative position serves as the organization’s central resource for institutional fundraising, stewarding key funder relationships, managing proposal development, and maintaining the organizational data, impact metrics, and resources that support successful funding requests across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, or related field
  • At least 4-6 years of experience in institutional giving, grant management, foundation relations or nonprofit development
  • Or a combination of education and experience equivalent to 7+ years in the above areas
  • Demonstrated success in securing grants and foundation funding and managing funder relationships
  • Excellent writing, editing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong research, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and build strong internal and external relationships
  • Proficient in using fundraising databases and software, with a preference for experience in Salesforce.
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods while performing computer-based work including writing, data entry, and research
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and on call, as necessary
  • Ability to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, and printer on a consistent and regular basis
  • Ability to read and review documents in both print and digital formats for extended periods
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person, by telephone, and in virtual meeting environments
  • Ability to move throughout office spaces and venues as needed for meetings, site visits, and organizational events
  • Ability to travel to funder meetings, site visits, conferences, and organizational events which may require driving or use of public transportation

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an annual institutional giving strategy
  • Build, cultivate, and steward relationships with foundation program officers, government agencies, corporate foundations, and other institutional funders
  • Identify and qualify new institutional funding opportunities
  • Develop cultivation and stewardship plans that deepen relationships and encourage long-term investment
  • Coordinate foundation meetings, site visits, and presentations with executive leadership and program staff
  • Develop grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept papers and institutional funding requests
  • Coordinate proposal development across departments to ensure compelling, accurate, and timely submissions
  • Manage the grant process and all related reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with Finance team to develop grant budgets and financial narratives
  • Manage proposal timelines to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Serve as the organization’s central steward of institutional fundraising information
  • Maintain organizational statistics, impact metrics, audience data, education outcomes, and financial data to ensure information is accurate, current, and consistent
  • Maintain a centralized library of proposal templates, boilerplate language, organizational narratives, budgets, evaluation tools, and supporting documentation
  • Support proposal development for foundation, government, corporate, sponsorship and other strategic funding opportunities
  • Manage grant reporting, compliance, and stewardship requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of all grant activities, including proposal submissions, awards, reporting deadlines, and communications
  • Monitor grant deliverables and collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with all funding requirements
  • Collaborate with Development, Finance, Marketing, Education, and Programming teams to identify funding opportunities and develop competitive proposals
  • Participate in strategic fundraising initiatives and campaign planning
  • Provide input to enhance institutional fundraising systems, processes, and proposal development resources
