About The Position

The Institutional Giving Coordinator supports the organization’s continued growth by taking a supporting role in the execution of the development team’s strategy and goals to inspire renewed, upgraded, and new funding from institutional donors. This role aligns with California State Parks Foundation’s mission by building relationships and raising resources to build climate resilience, expand access to parks, enhance visitor experience, preserve history and culture, and steward natural spaces. Reporting to the Institutional Giving Manager, this position closely collaborates with the development team and program staff to align funding opportunities with organizational priorities and programs.

Requirements

  • Commitment to California State Parks Foundation’s mission
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with the California state park system, environmental, and/or conservation practices preferred
  • Strong project management abilities; ability to manage multiple, complex projects involving event planning, program reporting, corporate relations, and partnership building
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with tools such as Salesforce, Asana, Slack, SharePoint, Foundation Directory Online, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Expensify, and Zoom preferred
  • Outstanding research skills with the ability to tailor proposals to specific funder criteria
  • Strong written, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Extremely organized with exceptional attention to detail; committed to maintaining data integrity
  • Ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a multitasking team environment
  • High integrity: ability to maintain confidentiality and operate with discretion
  • Comfort working with corporate groups and sponsors
  • Confident communicating with volunteers, partners, and corporate sponsors
  • Willingness to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel; occasional vigorous outdoor activity required
  • Valid driver's license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Using template language, draft and tailor grant proposals and reports, primarily for Connect Pillar programs ($75,000 and below)
  • Request external budget information as needed (e.g. W-9s, 990s, etc.)
  • Support the cultivation and stewardship of institutional funder relationships by preparing meeting packets and talking points
  • Support sending acknowledgment letters and providing other back-up support to the Development Associate as needed
  • Update all opportunity stages in Salesforce; upload proposals, reports, acknowledgment letters, and log all interactions
  • Lead prospect research based on priorities set by the Institutional Giving Manager, using tools such as Candid, Foundation Directory, and iWave to identify institutional funders based on monthly priority areas
  • Support the maintenance of the grants calendar by tracking deadlines, updating tasks, and providing regular updates on grant writing progress in Asana, Salesforce, and SharePoint
  • Support logistics for Earth Month sponsor registration and recognition
  • Implement ongoing process improvements for Earth Month, including sponsor review processes/timelines, volunteer recruitment, and weekday event coordination
  • Track Earth Month recognition in partnership with Communications
  • Attend volunteer workdays/other events in parks as needed and provide logistical support leading up to organizational events
  • Assist with securing in-kind donations as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
