About The Position

The Institutional Assistant will serve as a program lead, implementing comprehensive Social-Emotional Wellness and Learning (SEWL) programs in multiple Little Rock School District partner schools. The Institutional Assistant will facilitate age-appropriate, consistent, and high-quality SEWL sessions at assigned school and community sites. Staffing this role ensures grant compliance and strengthens the university's commitment to youth development and community engagement, aligning with our institutional mission. The position renewal is contingent upon continued grant funding and satisfactory job performance. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of the operational practices of the Little Rock School District, particularly of UALR Community Programs partner schools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead group sessions and manage classroom dynamics effectively.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the social-emotional wellbeing of children and youth.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to take initiative and adapt to diverse school environments.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and digital reporting tools.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with social-emotional learning principles and child/youth behavior management strategies.
  • 2 years experience working with children in an educational, afterschool, or youth development setting.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and coordinate SEWL sessions at partner sites, managing logistics and serving as the primary site contact.
  • Provide feedback on content, collaborate on program adaptation, pilot new activities, and stay updated on best practices.
  • Lead engaging SEWL sessions, foster positive student relationships, and adapt delivery based on real-time needs.
  • Supervise and mentor site-based staff, providing direction and promoting a collaborative, child-centered environment.
  • Reinforce positive behavioral strategies, collaborate on interventions, and document student behavior trends.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and behavior records, submit reports, and track progress toward student goals.
  • Build strong relationships with school staff, participate in wellness meetings, and represent the SEWL program professionally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
