About The Position

The Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Health Services team at Eastern Oregon Youth Correctional Facility in Burns. In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care that supports the physical and mental health of youth in OYA’s care, while working within a safe and secure close-custody environment. You’ll use your nursing expertise to assess health concerns, respond to emergencies, coordinate ongoing care, and help youth understand and manage their health needs.

Requirements

Possess a valid Oregon Registered Professional Nurse's License at the time of appointment.
Possess an active CPR card

Experience working with an Electronic Health Record System.
Knowledge of medical ethics.
Experience working in a team environment in a variety of environments and situations.
Experience prioritizing and completing work assignments with specified deadlines.

Responsibilities

Assess and treat youth experiencing physical or mental health concerns, including developing nursing care plans and providing emergency and first-aid care.
Provide routine nursing care by carrying out provider orders, evaluating treatment effectiveness, collecting laboratory specimens, and providing health education.
Administer and manage medications, including assessing allergies, dosages, side effects and drug interactions and maintaining required pharmacy records.
Maintain accurate and confidential electronic medical records, including documenting patient care, treatment, nursing care plans, appointments and essential health information.
Support clinic operations and facility safety, including staff training, medical supply and equipment oversight, and maintaining security practices required in a close-custody environment.
