About The Position

The Installation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment and maintenance of fiber optic and cable systems across various residential and commercial sites. This position requires meticulous attention to detail to install, splice, and test fiber optic and coaxial cables, ensuring optimal signal quality and system reliability. The technician will interpret blueprints and conduct site surveys to plan and execute installations that meet technical specifications and safety standards. Collaboration with project managers and other technical staff is essential to coordinate schedules and resolve any installation challenges promptly. Ultimately, the Installation Technician ensures that customers receive high-quality, fully operational communication and fire alarm systems that meet or exceed industry standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in fiber optic splicing and cable installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols related to cable installation and working at heights.
  • Fiber optics, splicing, and coaxial cable installation are essential for performing precise and reliable cable terminations and connections daily.
  • Reading blueprints and conducting site surveys enable the technician to plan installations effectively, avoiding potential issues and ensuring compliance with design specifications.
  • Proficiency in cable installation techniques ensures that all work meets industry standards and safety regulations, minimizing downtime and service interruptions.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in fiber optic installation or splicing (e.g., FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician).
  • Experience with fire alarm system installation and testing.
  • Familiarity with cable TV system installation and troubleshooting.
  • Basic knowledge of network configurations and signal testing equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or overtime.
