The Installation Technician - Outdoor Living is responsible for installing, configuring, and testing outdoor audio, lighting, shading, TVs, and related outdoor living systems at residential properties. This role represents HomePro on-site and requires strong customer communication, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years hands-on installation experience in outdoor audio, landscape lighting, outdoor TVs, or related AV/home automation installations.
  • Proficiency with low-voltage wiring, cable termination (RJ45, speaker wire, coax), and basic electrical concepts for safe installation practices.
  • Ability to read and follow installation diagrams, schematics, and work orders accurately.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing physical tasks (lifting, climbing ladders, bending).
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with landscape lighting design and installation.
  • Familiarity with smart home control platforms, multi-room audio systems, and network basics.
  • Low-voltage or related certification.
  • Prior experience working in residential construction or with subcontractor crews.
  • Technical training or certificate programs in electronics, AV technology, or related fields are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Install outdoor audio systems, landscape and accent lighting, weather-rated televisions, shades, mounts, and other outdoor AV components per design plans.
  • Run and terminate low-voltage cabling, conceal cabling per customer expectations, and perform wire pulls through conduit and landscape areas.
  • Mount and secure equipment to patios, pergolas, and other outdoor structures following manufacturer instructions and company best practices.
  • Program and configure control systems, multi-room audio zones, and basic automation interfaces for outdoor living features.
  • Test and verify system operation; troubleshoot and resolve installation issues promptly.
  • Coordinate with project managers, electricians, and other trades to ensure proper power, grounding, and scheduling for installations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area; follow company safety protocols and use personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain service vehicle, tools, and inventory; report missing or damaged equipment.
  • Provide excellent customer service, explain system operation to customers, and gather feedback at project completion.
  • Document work in the company dispatch/CRM system and submit service reports in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
  • Install outdoor kitchens, including countertop, grill, refrigeration, storage, and accessory components, according to design plans and manufacturer instructions.
  • Connect and test electrical, gas, and low-voltage components as required to support safe, reliable operation.
  • Verify measurements, leveling, alignment, clearances, and proper fit-up prior to anchoring and final assembly.
  • Coordinate with project managers, electricians, and other trades to confirm power, grounding, and scheduled site readiness.
  • Perform system start-up checks, troubleshoot installation issues, and ensure customer-ready functionality before handoff.
  • Install outdoor kitchens, including countertop, grill, refrigeration, and accessory components, according to design plans and manufacturer instructions.
  • Connect and test relevant electrical, gas, and low-voltage components as required for safe, reliable operation.
  • Verify measurements, leveling, alignment, and proper clearances prior to installation.
  • Coordinate with project managers and other trades to ensure seamless scheduling and site readiness.
