About The Position

Reporting to the Field Service and Installation Manager, the Installation Technician is responsible for ensuring that the installation of all company products conforms to company standards and customer requirements. This position has direct responsibility for field installation of company products, including supervision and direction of temporary installation work force. This position will also be responsible for daily communication with supervisor, Project Manager, and the Customer.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, and 3 years construction or maintenance experience or associate degree and 2 years’ experience.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 30 and forklift certifications.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a motor vehicle record check.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid passport and travel internationally as required and successfully meet background requirements necessary for access to highly secure governmental facilities and for international visas and permits.
  • Achievement of a passing score on Spacesaver’s baseline assessment.
  • Basic knowledge of building construction, electrical systems, blueprint reading, machine operation, hand and power tool use, and math skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, good organizational and follow through skills, as well as proven ability to promote and maintain a professional image.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and memos in the English language. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other team members. Please note that a translation assistant can be provided through a request to HR.
  • Solid PC familiarity, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able and available to travel frequently, up to 30–50% of the time, sometimes with as little as 24 hours’ notice, and remain at assigned locations as required.
  • The ability to work at heights of 40 feet.
  • Proven ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Good time management skills, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and be attentive to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, service, and repair Spacesaver products; develop broad knowledge of the Spacesaver product line.
  • Prepare and maintain the installation job site, including safety compliance, cleanliness, trash removal, parking coordination, equipment rental, power setup, material handling, and hiring and directing temporary labor as required.
  • Inspect materials upon arrival at the job site for damage, shortages, or quality issues prior to installation.
  • Coordinate project‑specific responsibilities with the Project Manager, including labor requirements, equipment, material handling, and delivery schedules.
  • Review bills of materials, drawings, labor estimates, and schedules; develop an installation plan prior to departure for the job site and alert the Project Manager of any issues that may impact scheduled installation.
  • Track and communicate labor hours, budgets, and schedules to ensure alignment with established targets.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs related to job progress, daily expenses, personal work hours, hired labor hours, and issues encountered; prepare follow‑up reports summarizing job outcomes and communicating results to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Perform Standard Work by following established Work Instructions, Operator Instructions, and training requirements.
  • Learn and use Spacesaver’s draw‑to‑price software to review project details and installation drawings.
  • Install and troubleshoot prototype systems in support of the Major Projects and Innovation teams.
  • Perform in‑house assignments as needed, including local installations, research and development support, trade show support, warehouse organization and cleanliness, and office reconfigurations.
  • Participate in required training, installation schools, and departmental meetings within the Installation and Service team.
