This role involves the timely and proper inspection, repair, maintenance, and installation of customer equipment, developing and maintaining good customer relations, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety guidelines. The technician will perform installations, inspections, and repairs in the field, often individually but sometimes in small teams. As skills develop, the technician may guide and train other Service Technicians. The role requires accurate completion of paperwork and adherence to operation and communication standards. Occasional domestic overnight travel may be required for training or supporting customers at other offices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to five year s experience in repair and service of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical equipment
  • Valid drivers license
  • Passing DOT medical exam
  • Applicable driver qualification standards at all times
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints & schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and proper inspection, repair, maintenance, and installation of customer equipment in a manner that exceeds customer expectations and that is consistent with Rite-Hite's image as the industry leader in customer service.
  • Develop and maintain good customer relations in a manner that exemplifies Rite-Hite's image and commitment to customer service.
  • Compliance with all company policies and safety guidelines.
  • Perform installation, inspection, and repair of equipment in the field in an expeditious manner while assuring the customer's needs are met and exceeded.
  • Guide other Service Technicians with less skills/knowledge through complex problems in the field as skills and knowledge develop.
  • Train other Service Technicians in the proper field installation, service and repair of equipment and proper administrative procedures instilling Rite-Hite's commitment to customer service (as skills and knowledge develop).
  • Using the handheld devices (or paper backup forms if needed) accurately complete all necessary paperwork associated with field service, repair, and installation, including service tickets, timesheets, open job tracking form and safety analysis sheets.
  • Maintain compliance with operation and communication standards as per the Field Service Technician Handbook.
  • Operate a service vehicle in compliance with DOT Driver Qualification standards, as well as truck-based cranes, forklifts, welders, torches, and power and hand tools.
  • Follow all customer-specific requirements, policies, safety guidelines and directions on their work sites.
  • Work closely with all other departments in the company, communicating and coordinating activities to efficiently maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
