About The Position

The Installation and Maintenance Technician connects customers to Verizon’s network by installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining telecommunications technology in the neighborhoods Verizon serves. The role is based onsite at a defined work location and involves field work using trucks and other equipment. Technicians may perform equipment and access-line work, construction tasks, and work on poles, underground facilities, and building terminals. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week and may require evenings, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled shifts according to business needs.

Requirements

• Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Knowledge of telecommunications technology.
• Ability to perceive differences in wire and cable colors.
• Ability to move and lift items generally not exceeding 100 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• Related associate degree or at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Completion of the Verizon Technician Program or similar programs covering electrical or lineman training.

Responsibilities

• Connect, disconnect, test, repair, and maintain equipment, inside wiring, and wires at poles, underground, or at building terminals.
• Operate and maintain trucks and equipment safely for work operations.
• Install, repair, maintain, and test access lines for different types of equipment and technology.
• Perform construction work using designated equipment to dig holes, place poles, lay cable or conduit, and unreel, pull, and string wire or cable on poles.
• Read and interpret engineering plans and vendor specifications.
• Climb ladders and poles and work aloft.
• Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled shifts as business needs require.
