About The Position

The Installation and Maintenance Technician connects customers to Verizon’s network by installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining telecommunications technology in the neighborhoods Verizon serves. The role involves work on equipment, inside wiring, wires at poles, underground facilities, and building terminals, as well as access lines for different types of equipment and technology. This is an onsite, field operations role with 40 scheduled weekly hours. Work may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled shifts based on business needs.

Requirements

• Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Knowledge of telecommunications technology.
• Ability to perceive differences in wire and cable colors.
• Ability to move and lift items generally not exceeding 100 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• Related associate degree or two or more years of relevant work experience.
• Completion of the Verizon Technician Program or a similar program covering electrical or lineman training.

Responsibilities

• Connect, disconnect, test, repair, and maintain equipment, inside wiring, and wires at poles, underground, or at building terminals.
• Operate and maintain trucks and equipment needed to perform work safely.
• Install, repair, maintain, and test access lines for all types of equipment and technology.
• Perform construction work using designated equipment to dig holes, place poles, lay cable or conduit in the ground, and unreel, pull, and string wire or cable on poles.
• Read and interpret engineering plans and vendor specifications.
• Climb ladders and poles and work aloft.
• Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled shifts as determined by business needs.
