About The Position

The Install & Service Technician supports the Big Builders business unit and is responsible for installing new hardware and systems in newly constructed homes, as well as servicing recently sold homes under company construction management. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment while ensuring quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in installation, service, or construction, preferably in residential new construction.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction practices, tools, and safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and installation instructions.
  • Experience working with mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or similar systems preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment typically weighing 20–50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights when necessary.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating tools and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing job site conditions and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Install new hardware, systems, and components in newly constructed homes within the Big Builders business unit.
  • Perform service and repair work on recently sold homes under company construction management.
  • Install, service, and repair residential systems and fixtures in accordance with specifications, manufacturer guidelines, and building codes.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure all installations meet company standards for function, safety, and finish.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to installed systems or equipment in a timely manner.
  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical instructions to ensure accurate installation and service work.
  • Collaborate with project managers, builders, subcontractors, and internal teams to meet project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
  • Ensure all work sites are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service when interacting with homeowners, contractors, and team members.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
