About The Position

The Inspector will promote a safe working environment and adhere to all Silgan safety policies and procedures. This role is responsible for ensuring finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations by identifying and classifying defects. Critical defects are those that could cause package failure or unsafe conditions, major defects may cause handling or performance issues, and minor defects are aesthetic but do not affect package integrity. The Inspector will alert operators to defects, verify packaging parameters against specifications, and perform necessary rework and housekeeping duties. They will also foster a teamwork atmosphere by assisting with various tasks such as organizing, packing, transporting, erecting corrugated materials, and performing rework. Additionally, the Inspector will assist operators during machine startups with grinding bottles, clearing jams, and maintaining cleanliness around machinery. They will also support the Maintenance department with housekeeping during planned maintenance. The role involves evaluating and maintaining a safe work environment, inspecting work areas for unsafe conditions, and using effective communication skills. All duties must be performed in accordance with safety rules and procedures.

Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching and twisting.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe working environment and adhere to all Silgan safety policies and procedures.
Assure that finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations by identifying and classifying defects (critical, major, minor).
Alert the Operator to all defects so that they can be addressed.
Verify the specifications sheet that packaging parameters are being met.
Safely perform any required rework.
Perform housekeeping duties and keep work area clean; clean entire line area when a line goes down.
Promote a "teamwork" atmosphere by assisting where needed in housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting corrugated, erecting corrugated, performing rework.
Safely assist the Operator in grinding bottles during startup of machines, clear jams on the downstream, and perform housekeeping around grinders, downstream, and under takeouts.
Safely assist the Maintenance department through housekeeping on and around machines that are down for planned maintenance.
Evaluate and take appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines.
Inspect work areas, and look for unsafe acts/conditions.
Effectively use verbal and written communications.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Perform sweeping, cleaning, sorting duties as necessary.
Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures.
