About The Position

The role of Inspectors in the Structuring/Heatsetting areas is to carry out all job functions in a safe and productive manner, ensuring the quality and production of 100% of all carpet going through the machine. This involves following all material specifications for quality inspections, flagging spot defects, and informing the operator of any continuous defects. The inspector makes the final decision on roll quality and notifies the operator of any rolls being placed on hold. They also perform the duty of doffing rolls when the operator is unavailable and properly creating and attaching tickets/labels for rolls. Additionally, inspectors are responsible for filling out all required paperwork, ensuring the operator can take short breaks, notifying the shop if maintenance is required, keeping the work area clean and organized, and following all procedures and posted information.

  • Follow all material specs for quality inspections
  • Flag all spot defects as required by the material spec
  • Inform the operator of any continuous defects
  • Make final decision on roll quality
  • Inform the operator of any rolls that are being placed on hold
  • Doff rolls whenever the operator is not available. Notify the team lead or production manager if having to doff all rolls.
  • Properly create and attach tickets/labels for rolls (PLT3010 / PLT3020)
  • Fill out all paperwork as directed
  • Ensure the operator can watch inspection before taking short breaks (5 min or less)
  • Notify the shop if maintenance is required
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Follow all procedures and heed posted information
