This position is responsible for gaining a working knowledge of and performing fire protection inspections and 24-hour service under the direct supervision of an Inspection/Service Technician. The role involves assisting with the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA codes. The Inspector will develop knowledge of life safety and NFPA codes and standards, as well as fire sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire suppression systems, and their components. They will perform testing and maintenance under supervision, complete training documentation, and differentiate between inspection deficiencies and necessary service. The Inspector must understand and follow the company's safety program, including Hazardous Communication and SDS protocols, and participate in weekly Toolbox talks. They are required to know the location of all safety documentation on each project and attend training sessions to stay updated on technology and practices. A key requirement is to begin the NICET exam cycle application and preparation within specific training evolutions, aiming to test for NICET Level II certification in Inspection Testing & Maintenance of Water Based Fire Protection Systems within approximately one year of hire or training enrollment, prior to achieving "Inspector" status.
