The Inspector will promote a safe working environment by understanding and adhering to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers. This role has the immediate responsibility to assure that finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations. The Inspector will be responsible for identifying and classifying typical defects encountered, including critical defects (likely to cause failure or unsafe conditions), major defects (handling or performance problems), and minor defects (aesthetically objectionable). The Inspector will alert the Operator to all defects and verify that packaging parameters are being met according to the specifications sheet. This role also involves performing any necessary rework safely, maintaining a clean work area, and assisting with housekeeping duties. During line downtime, the Inspector will clean the entire line area. A key aspect of this role is promoting a teamwork atmosphere by assisting in various tasks such as housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting corrugated materials, erecting corrugated materials, and performing rework. The Inspector will also safely assist the Operator during machine startups, clearing jams, and performing housekeeping around grinders and downstream equipment. Additionally, the Inspector will support the Maintenance department through housekeeping on and around machines during planned maintenance. The role requires evaluating and taking appropriate action to maintain a safe work environment with established standards and guidelines, inspecting work areas for unsafe acts/conditions, and effectively using verbal and written communication.
