About The Position

The Inspector is responsible for inspecting, identifying, grading, and purchasing ferrous and non-ferrous materials received at the facility to ensure compliance with company specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulations.

Requirements

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
One (1) to three (3) months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Basic computer skills and the ability to work with electronic purchasing systems.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus but are not required.
Ability to identify and distinguish different grades of scrap metal is preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
Examine incoming customer materials to identify and classify ferrous and non-ferrous commodities.
Determine the appropriate commodity grade and purchase classification for materials received.
Inspect materials to ensure compliance with company specifications, quality standards, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Verify that materials meet shipping and processing standards.
Use computer systems and kiosks to accurately process and record material purchases.
Mark materials as approved or rejected based on inspection results and document findings as required.
Maintain accurate inspection and purchasing records.
Provide excellent customer service when interacting with suppliers and customers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
