About The Position

Wieland is hiring an Inspector Packer. The Inspector Packer is an entry-level and support personnel required to facilitate plant operations. Responsibilities may include the use of light mobile equipment to direct the flow of materials through the process as it travels from raw materials to finished products. They will perform an inspection of the product and processes as needed. They may also support and assist in maintenance work to minimize downtime. This role is located in East Alton, IL and will be fully on-site.

Requirements

Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to forklift operations.
Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
Ability to read and understand packaging and shipping documents.
Adherence to health and safety regulations, including consistent use of protective gear.
Ability to read a manual tape measure, vernier caliper, and gauges.
Ability to interact with a computer and its components.
Ability to navigate a preprogramed data recording system, and how to troubleshoot the machine to resolve common issues.
Sit for extended period of times.
Stand for extended periods, walk and reach with hands or arms.
Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch.
Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
Lift up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally.
Use hands and fingers to handle, touch or manipulate items.
Demonstrate good judgement and asks questions as needed.
Attentive to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety.
Maintains safety as high priority in all aspects of responsibility.
Stoop, reach, kneel, twist, and walk while handling cases of product.
Have vision abilities to include proximate vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
High School Diploma or equivalency.
Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

Metals experience preferred, not required
Three years of manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Work in alignment with Wieland’s core values and abide by the 8 Golden Rules of Safety.
Operate precise measuring equipment, in the form of width mics, calipers, gauges, and MMS system to ensure customer specifications are met.
Responsible for measuring width, gauge, and surface quality of product and the recording of measurement results.
Band, pack, and identify customer material for shipping.
Ensure all equipment is maintained and operated per Wieland policies and health and safety regulations; report service requests as needed.
Collaborate with the maintenance department to complete tasks to minimize downtime.
Work with team members to achieve department goals.
Adhere to Wieland and OSHA safety procedures and job-specific safety practices; report issues to the Supervisor, Safety, or HR.
Follow daily procedures, work instructions, control plans, and protocols outlined during orientations and training.
Attend meetings and refresher courses to ensure proper equipment operation.
Perform general laborer tasks as required.
Maintain daily housekeeping of the work area.
Perform routine inspections of products as needed.
Carry out additional duties as assigned.
