About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring safety procedures are followed, understanding the product line, performing production verifications and visual inspections, utilizing data acquisition software for quality control, inspecting parts and performing liner inspections, checking glue tank levels, properly packaging and handling production, recording scrap, assisting with machine startups/shutdowns/line clearances, minimizing machine downtime, maintaining a clean workstation, participating in Lean and Safety programs, following Food Safety and cGMP policies, assisting in training, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills (written & oral).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to follow both written and verbal instructions and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to walk; stand for extended periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Occasionally required to climb or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times and immediately report unsafe working conditions or mechanical safety problems to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Understand the product line. Know the function of the product and any potential product defects that can adversely affect the function or application of the product.
  • Perform production verifications at the start of an order and each shift.
  • Perform the required visual inspections at the beginning of each shift and at the interval specified in the data acquisition software. Immediately notify the Manufacturing Coordinator if any defects are found.
  • Utilize the data acquisition software to determine which gauging (if necessary) must be performed during the production run to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Keep accurate documentation in the data acquisition software during the production run.
  • Inspect parts on the conveyor belts and in product containers throughout the shift, and perform liner inspections as required.
  • If applicable, periodically check the glue tank level to ensure a proper supply of glue is available to the machine.
  • Properly package and handle the production per the assigned manufacturing specification.
  • Accurately record scrap and place the scrap in the proper containers.
  • Assist in the performance of machine startups, shutdowns and line clearances.
  • Keep machine downtime to a minimum.
  • Keep the workstation clean and neat at all times by utilizing good housekeeping practices.
  • Participate in Lean and Safety programs.
  • Follows applicable Food Safety and cGMP polices.
  • Assist in the training of fellow associates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
