About The Position

This position is part of Blue Origin Operations and supports fabrication and development teams working on welding and fabrication, machining, final integration, and testing of tooling and launch infrastructure. The role is responsible for certifying welds across fabrication teams and supporting code-compliant fabrication in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces, travel 25% of the time, and work required shift hours, including overtime and weekends as needed.

Requirements

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification and a minimum of 5 years of experience.
Experience with GTAW, FCAW, and SMAW welding processes.
Extensive knowledge of NDT processes, including VT, PT, and MT.
Experience inspecting to and working in accordance with national fabrication codes and standards, including AWS D17.1, ASME BPVC Section IX, B31.1, B31.3, AWS D1.1, AWS D1.2, AWS D1.6, and AWS D14.0.
Experience upholding shop fabrication requirements established in codes and standards for code-compliant fabrication.
Experience with welder performance qualification tasks.
Ability to learn, grow, and tackle new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, with pride in work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle small and large projects with internal and external customers.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
Ability to perform work involving lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying.
Availability to work all required shift hours, including overtime and weekends, as needed.
Willingness to travel 25% of the time.
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Must meet Blue Origin's stated eligibility for employment under U.S. export control regulations.

Nice To Haves

Experience in large assembly or tooling fabrication.
Experience developing weld maps to track inspections on large assemblies throughout fabrication.
Experience reviewing manufacturing drawings, including a robust understanding of welding symbols.
Ability and willingness to train cross-functional engineering teams on welding requirements and weldment design.
Experience working with carbon and stainless steels, aluminum alloys, Ni-based alloys, and/or other aerospace materials.
Experience with hardware manufacturing processes, such as mechanized welding, machining, cleaning, nondestructive testing, tight-tolerance assembly, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, and work with large assemblies.
Experience supporting design and manufacturing teams in an aerospace environment, including preparing specifications, test reports, and design substantiation documentation.

Responsibilities

Certify welds across fabrication teams.
Inspect fabrication work in accordance with national fabrication codes and standards.
Uphold shop fabrication requirements established by codes and standards to ensure code-compliant fabrication.
Perform welder performance qualification tasks.
Develop weld maps as needed to track inspections completed on large assemblies throughout fabrication.
Support design and manufacturing teams in an aerospace environment, including preparing specifications, test reports, and design substantiation documentation.
Train cross-functional engineering teams on welding requirements and weldment design, as applicable.
Prioritize and manage small and large projects with internal and external customers.
