About The Position

Tests and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables at various stages during the production process and evaluates data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products. This role involves performing specific job responsibilities related to testing and inspection, promoting service excellence and quality, and championing the company's vision and values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Six months related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to set-up, run, and monitor test equipment in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use tools and measuring devices properly.
  • Ability to read and follow basic instructions.
  • Ability to understand and implement quality procedures.
  • Math and handwriting skills required.
  • Ability to correctly complete all documentation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Pays close attention to detail with the ability to complete assignments accurately and recognize and help resolve problems.
  • Regularly required to stand and walk.
  • Significant inspecting activities require manual dexterity using hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Requires sight sufficient for significant reading and computer usage.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.
  • Requires an individual with hearing sufficient for communication with coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Selects optical fiber and sub-cables to be tested based on priorities set by production.
  • Strips optical fiber and sub-cables and uses OTDR testing equipment to test for length, breaks and attenuation.
  • Observes, measures, and inspects optical fiber and sub-cables for qualities such as wall thickness, diameter, concentricity, print, and color as required per the shop order.
  • Evaluates data to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Completes all inspection paperwork specific to this job function.
  • Promotes OCC’s service excellence and quality.
