About The Position

Non-Destructive Inspector II (NDI) inspects aerospace systems, components, and support equipment for structural integrity in accordance with technical publications. This role involves producing procedures for Non-destructive Test (NDT) for NDT level III approval. The Inspector II is accountable for performing all work-related actions as directed by management, following instructions from work center shift leads or above, and ensuring the safety, security, and preservation of government and company-owned equipment. The position requires courteous and professional interaction with customers and co-workers, maintaining a clean and orderly work center, and meeting government and company license and/or qualification requirements. Compliance with On the Job Training (OJT), Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste (HW), Tool Control Program (TCP), Egress Familiarization, and all safety regulations is mandatory. The role leads NDI of T6 and T44 aircraft systems and structures, including wings, fuselage, empennage, and functional components. It involves leading the use of Liquid Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Eddy Current (ET), Ultrasonic (UT), and Visual Inspection methods, testing for flaws such as cracks, corrosion, material thickness, delamination, voids, and heat damage. The position also leads in qualifying and utilizing NDI equipment, completing maintenance action forms (MAF) in NALCOMIS/OOMA, ensuring proper documentation of parts, tagging and returning/disposing of serviceable and non-serviceable parts, and utilizing technical manuals to troubleshoot, repair, test, or modify aircraft systems. Additionally, the role involves monitoring, evaluating, inspecting, and validating work in progress and completion as per technical manuals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, required.
  • NDT Level II certification (Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, and Liquid Penetrant methods).
  • Valid driver's license, required.
  • Qualify and operate ultraviolet black light.
  • Qualify and operate fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI) method A, C, and D.
  • Qualify and operate stationary Magnetic Particle Bench.
  • Qualify and operate portable yoke (circular and longitudinal magnetization on ferrous materials).
  • Qualify and operate NORTEC 2000D Eddy Current flaw detector.
  • Qualify and operate Olympus EPOCH 650 and Sonic 1200 Ultrasonic flaw detector.
  • Qualify and operate Digital Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge.
  • NDI experience and/or certification. (Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, and Liquid Penetrant methods).
  • Experience and knowledge of technical manuals, service bulletins, maintenance forms.
  • Organize and plan work assignments.

  • Lead NDI of T6 and T44 aircraft systems and structures, e.g. wings, fuselage, empennage, and functional components.
  • Lead in the use of Liquid Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Eddy Current (ET), Ultrasonic (UT), and Visual Inspection methods in accordance with applicable technical manuals and other maintenance directives.
  • Lead in test for flaws, e.g. cracks, corrosion, material thickness, delamination, voids, and heat damage.
  • Lead in qualifying and utilizing NDI equipment.
  • Lead in Completion of maintenance action forms (MAF) in NALCOMIS/OOMA.
  • Lead in ensuring all parts/components are properly documented by a valid MAF.
  • Lead by tagging, serviceable and non-serviceable parts are returned or disposed of.
  • Lead in utilizing all applicable technical manuals and publications to troubleshoot, replace, repair, test or modify applicable aircraft systems.
  • Lead in monitoring, evaluating, inspecting and validating work in progress and completion as per technical manuals.
