About The Position

Inspector II performs routine inspection work in petroleum and petrochemical terminals and refineries. This role also involves inspection work on board barges and ships, adhering to industry standards and procedures published by API and Saybolt. The position requires performing visual cleanliness inspections of tanks, including entering confined spaces, and verifying the accuracy of measurement equipment. Inspectors must work safely in the presence of hazardous materials, take product measurements and samples, perform related calculations, complete required reports and forms, conduct inventories, and handle non-petroleum or chemical inspection assignments. Additionally, they perform other inspection department duties as assigned by the Manager or Scheduler and must adhere to procedural, safety, and quality requirements specified in Saybolt procedures manuals, the Global Safety Manual, and Core Laboratories/Saybolt company policies. The role also includes attending training and passing examinations in petroleum, chemical, and gas inspection procedures, including Right-to-Know training, hazardous materials transportation, and other required safety training. Gaining knowledge of basic and advanced laboratory procedures through cross-training in the laboratory is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (general education degree)
  • 3 years as an Inspector or related experience
  • IFIA Certification required
  • Inspectors must have a vehicle in good, safe operating condition that can be used on the job for both personal and sample transportation in all ambient weather conditions.
  • Vehicles used for sample transportation must be able to accommodate the secondary sample containers issued for sample transportation.
  • Inspectors are required to maintain the proper levels of automobile liability insurance and meet all state requirements on vehicles used for Saybolt assignments.
  • Inspectors must also maintain a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Local travel and occasional out-of-town assignments are required.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
