About The Position

This role is for a Final Inspection Sensors Inspector on the 2nd Shift. The primary responsibility is to ensure the quality of products by utilizing manual or automated measurement and testing equipment. The inspector will identify and document non-conforming parts, inspect raw materials and purchased parts, and perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements. The role also involves assisting support functions in root cause analysis, developing a strong understanding of GD&T and advanced measurement principles, and completing assessments in blueprint interpretation, electrical inspection, mechanical inspection, and procedural knowledge. Advanced understanding of special processes such as brazing, soldering, welding, and coating is required. The inspector will perform complex testing, operate all inspection equipment within the department, and work with limited supervision. This includes performing manual set-up, testing, and troubleshooting, as well as performance testing and trim grind. The role requires multitasking, working within deadlines, completing labor tracking documentation, providing feedback to support functions, and communicating effectively with the team regarding processes and issues. Safety is paramount, requiring the use of proper PPE, safety equipment, and adherence to safety procedures. The inspector will report problems to the appropriate resource and proactively work to improve efficiency and quality. Participation in team initiatives and receiving guidance from experienced employees are also expected. The role requires adherence to GE behaviors.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
5 years inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
Basic understanding of process instruction, including functional knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
Expert understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation.
Expert understanding of basic computer applications.
Ability and willingness to use hand tools (crimpers, soldering iron, wire strippers, brazing equipment, etc.), as well as measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, rulers, etc.).
Ability and willingness to perform electrical test methods (ohm meter, gauss meter, surge test, hi pot, etc.).
Ability and willingness to pass Visual Acuity Exam as necessary.
Ability and willingness to obtain Solder, Braze, and Solder Certification as required.
Must be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.
Must be able to prove status as a U.S. Person (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, asylee or refugee status).

Nice To Haves

5-10 years inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of electrical components, test methods (ohm meter, surge test, hipot, etc.), assembly techniques, geometric dimensions/tolerances, and inspection in various areas.
Knowledge of quality system requirements (AS9100).
Intermediate understanding of special process operations (Brazing, soldering, welding, coating, etc.).
Intermediate knowledge in receiving, electrical, or mechanical inspection.
Prior assembly, solder, and/or electronics manufacturing experience.
Prior experience in a self-directed teaming environment.

Responsibilities

Utilize manual or automated measurement and testing equipment to ensure quality of products.
Identify and document non-conforming parts while using Oracle to maintain inspection records.
Inspect all raw materials and purchased parts to determine conformance to design requirement.
Use statistical process control and statistical quality control techniques as required.
Perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third-party requirements.
Assist support functions in root cause analysis.
Develop strong understanding of GD&T and advanced measurement principles.
Blueprint interpretation, electrical inspection, mechanical inspection, and procedural knowledge assessment completion.
Have advanced understanding of special processes such as brazing, soldering, welding, coating, etc. as required within the department.
Use manual and automated measuring/testing equipment to ensure product quality.
Perform complex testing (surge test, di-electric, hipot, helium leak check, ATP, hardness testing, etc.).
Have advanced understanding of the operation of all inspection equipment within the department.
Work with limited supervision.
Perform manual set up, test, and troubleshooting which includes performance testing and trim grind.
Multi-task and work within deadlines.
Compliantly complete all written and/or electronic labor tracking documentation.
Provide feedback to appropriate support functions.
Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of new processes and/or issues.
Keep all shift operators informed on special problems involving operation or set up.
Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment and follow safety procedures.
Report problems to appropriate resource and/or Coach.
