About The Position

The Inspection Report Specialist is responsible for compiling, analyzing, and preparing detailed inspection reports based on findings collected during underwater inspections performed by commercial dive teams. This position transforms field notes, measurements, photographs, videos, sketches, and inspection data into professional, accurate, and client-ready deliverables. This position works closely with Dive Supervisors, Project Managers, Engineers, and Clients to ensure inspection findings are documented clearly, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and company quality requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of technical writing or inspection documentation experience.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent technical writing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with CAD drawings, GIS, asset management systems, or inspection software.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience preparing technical reports, inspection reports, engineering documentation, or assessment reports.
  • Experience compiling information from field notes, photographs, videos, measurements, and inspection forms into professional deliverables.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems.
  • Experience conducting document reviews for accuracy, consistency, and quality control.
  • Strong technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and file management skills.
  • Advanced proofreading and editing capability.
  • Critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting commercial diving operations.
  • Knowledge of underwater inspection methodologies and OSHA commercial diving regulations.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and inspection data.
  • Experience supporting commercial diving, marine construction, underwater inspection, or hydroelectric facility projects.
  • Experience preparing reports for: Dam inspections, Hydroelectric facilities, Bridges and marine structures, Industrial waterfront facilities, Water intake and discharge structures, Pipelines and outfalls.
  • Familiarity with underwater inspection methods, structural condition assessments, and defect documentation.
  • Experience organizing and incorporating underwater photographs, video captures, sonar imagery, and annotated drawings into reports.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, inspection sketches, and technical specifications.
  • Experience working with engineers, dive supervisors, project managers, and asset owners.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports from commercial diving project data.
  • Organize and document inspection findings, observations, measurements, and recommendations.
  • Compile underwater inspection reports for structures including: Dams, Hydroelectric facilities, Intake structures, Trash racks, Bridges, Piers and wharves, Pipelines, Marine terminals, Industrial waterfront facilities.
  • Develop executive summaries and detailed technical findings sections.
  • Ability to manage multiple reports and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to interpret technical and engineering information.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client and project information.
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally visit project sites and interact with field personnel.
  • Ability to review photographs, video imagery, and engineering drawings in detail.
