About The Position

The Inside Technical Support Specialist will be based out of the Automation Group and will be responsible for providing customers technical and commercial support for all Automation products and services. Mainly Rockwell Automation but not limited to other third-party Automation products or services.

Requirements

  • Minimum graduate of a 2-year technician or 3 year electrical/electronic/computer technology or Engineering program which emphasizes automation and control systems or equivalent.
  • Some experience with Sales or Customer Service.
  • A working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access) is required.
  • Strong communication skills dealing with Technical Engineering customers and procurement personnel.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous technical sales would be an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of Automation solutions, process, Information systems and service solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer quotations and system configurations or bills of material as required.
  • Provide sales and technical support for Rockwell Automation products and service solutions including PLCs, Drives, Operator Interfaces, Motion Controllers, and software (Servers, Logic, Process, Visualization and Information).
  • Knowledge of Process Control Instrumentation and Control valves.
  • Ability to read and understand technical information such as wiring diagrams, PID drawings, Single line drawings.
  • Utilize tools such as JD Edwards, SAP, Seismic, I.A.B and other technical documents to address customers questions and assist with Automation solutions.
  • Provide support for the Automation Account Specialists, Industrial Account Managers and Automation support for Branches.
  • Schedule service techs from Vendors or Gerrie Technicians.
  • Provide exception customer experience.
  • Assist Rockwell branch Sales resources.
  • Coordinate Repair & Exchange of defective Automation Products.
  • Suggest alternate solutions when product availability is inadequate.
  • Recommend creative solutions to various issues that may arise.
  • Communicate technical information effectively written or verbally.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain positive collaborative relationships with vendors and service providers.
  • Create and maintain a team atmosphere and ensure employee concerns are resolved promptly.
  • Understand and adhere to ISO policies and procedures.
  • Perform continuous evaluation, development and execution of policies and programs.
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, and other educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintain and participate in professional networks to enhance your knowledge and skills.
  • Participates on committees and special projects as requested.
  • Participates in Technical and Business Training.
  • Self-pace ongoing product and services offering training.
  • Product and Service offering knowledge.
