About The Position

Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking a skilled Inside Sales Representative to join their team. This role involves completing hands-on training, including time in a manufacturing environment, to develop practical knowledge of the company's mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings. The Inside Sales Representative will provide technical support, respond to inbound sales inquiries, proactively engage existing customers, process orders and quotes, and collaborate with Outside Sales representatives to drive customer growth. The position also requires analyzing sales data to identify growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong mechanical aptitude or technical inclination
  • Ability to understand and work with complex technical or mechanical specifications
  • 1-3 years of experience in a sales or customer service role, ideally within a manufacturing or technical environment
  • Strong computer skills
  • Adaptability to new processes, technologies, and work environments
  • Clear and effective communication skills to understand customer needs and provide high-quality service
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage the sales process efficiently with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple orders and quotes simultaneously
  • Ability to analyze data to understand market trends and find opportunities for business growth
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and cooperation
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Complete hands-on training, including time in a manufacturing environment.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the company's products and services.
  • Provide technical information and guidance to customers.
  • Respond to inbound sales calls from existing customers regarding product details, pricing, order status, or delivery confirmation.
  • Proactively engage existing customers via phone, email, and other channels to generate new sales opportunities.
  • Enter orders and quotes for stock items and custom-manufactured components and systems.
  • Collaborate with Outside Sales representatives on open opportunities.
  • Analyze sales figures and market trends to identify potential areas for growth and improvement.
