About The Position

Building Controls & Solutions (BCS) is a premier distributor and solutions provider in the Building Automation industry. We partner with top manufacturers to serve mechanical, electrical, and controls contractors, delivering products and services including HVAC controls, gas detection, access control, lighting systems, analytics, and IoT solutions. With a strong local branch presence and technical support teams, BCS helps customers succeed on complex commercial building projects. We are seeking a motivated and client driven Inside Sales Lead to join our branch team. This position is based at the sales counter and plays a key role in serving walk-in and phone-in customers, processing orders, and providing expert product support.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of inside or counter sales experience, preferably in distribution or wholesale
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Proficient in CRM and order entry systems
  • Technical product knowledge required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform outbound sales calls
  • Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in HVAC or controls/building automation a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support initiatives to grow counter traffic and local service area sales
  • Drive inside sales via upselling, cross-selling, and quote follow-ups
  • Partner with outside sales, vendors, and warehouse teams to ensure timely order fulfillment
  • Guide customers through technical product selection and the sales process
  • Educating customers on products, services, and technical capabilities
  • Manage and grow house account sales while meeting gross margin goals through effective pricing
  • Set and manage customer expectations for pricing, availability, lead times, and deliveries
  • Prepare and deliver accurate quotes and convert them into orders
  • Enter and process sales and purchase orders
  • Handle customer returns and order tracking
  • Conduct outbound sales calls, including prospecting and house account follow-ups
  • Maintain regular customer contact and follow-up via phone
  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities
  • Support inventory management and warehouse organization
  • Ensure daily shipping of products
  • Maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming counter environment
  • Assist with training and mentoring of junior counter staff
  • Share best practices within the branch and across other BC&S branches
