We are seeking an Inside Sales Engineer to join our Extreme Precision Optics team in Richmond, CA. As an Inside Sales Engineer, you will combine your technical skills with cross-functional collaboration to understand customer needs, recommend technical solutions, prepare quotations and proposal packages, and assist the sales team in closing deals for custom precision optics and optical assemblies. The Inside Sales Engineer acts as a critical link between customers, sales teams, and engineering/product teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field) or equivalent practical experience in sales engineering or technical sales.
  • Ability to manage multiple quotes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Results-driven, solution-oriented problem-solver with ability to balance technical knowledge with business objectives.
  • Strong analytical thinking skills to manage customer relationships with sound technical and commercial judgment.
  • Proactive communicator who is detail oriented, collaborative and organized.
  • Holds self and others accountable to high ethical standards; company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the US.
  • Must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in precision optics, optical fabrication or coatings, or optical assemblies is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Salesforce and Navision is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to inbound customer inquiries and qualify sales opportunities
  • Understand customer requirements, technical challenges, and business goals
  • Serve as primary interface for customers for time-sensitive project updates
  • Prepare quotes and proposals for custom optics and opto-mechanical assemblies
  • Review customer RFQs, drawings, and specifications to assess scope, risk, and manufacturability
  • Support quote revisions, customer discussions, and negotiation cycles
  • Maintain quote tracking, status, and follow-ups to meet customer deadlines
  • Explain complex technical concepts in a clear, customer-friendly manner
  • Stay up to date on product offerings, industry trends, and competitor solutions
  • Work closely with engineering, product management, and operations teams to develop pricing and lead times
  • Communicate customer feedback to internal stakeholders to ensure smooth handoff from quote to order execution
