The Inpatient Scheduling Coordinator assists nursing management in planning for the quantity and categories of nursing personnel necessary to maintain a staff that is adequate to meet the objectives of the Inpatient Services Nursing Departments (Progressive Care Unit and Med-Surg 2), Administrative Clinical Supervisors (ACS), Education Department and the Float Pool on a 24 hour basis. The Inpatient Services Coordinator compiles productivity data, performs bi-weekly time & attendance functions, and coordinates schedules for planned in-service education programs. The inpatient nursing scheduler must adhere to all provisions outlined in the employee union contracts to ensure compliance with established labor agreements. This includes following guidelines related to staffing, scheduling, and employee rights, thereby supporting a fair and equitable work environment for all nursing staff. The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is an acuity adjustable unit providing care to a diverse patient population requiring medical-surgical and telemetry levels of care. In addition, we see higher level of care patients, including but not limited to those on BiPap, titratable drips, or with hemodynamic instability requiring more frequent interventions and monitoring. The PCU is a 24/7/365 service with 25 beds. The team includes hospital medicine, care management, physical therapy and respiratory collaborating together to provide the best patient care possible. PCU and MS2 are interchangeable staff, as in they can be assigned to either unit without being considered floating. Scope of service includes 24-hour scheduling and payroll for ACS, PCU, Med-Surg 2, Float Pool, and Educator payroll and staffing as backfill is needed.
