About The Position

The Inpatient Renal APP is a licensed provider responsible for assessing and managing patients with medical and/or surgical conditions. The role provides diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, develops appropriate plans of care, and conducts ongoing evaluations. The APP may also precept a small group of learners. This is a per diem, onsite position at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital. Availability to work two shifts per month, including one weekend shift, is required. The listed per diem rate is $95.84 per hour.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or Nursing.
Massachusetts Physician Assistant license or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse credential.
Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical conditions and interpret findings.
Ability to maintain quality control standards.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly and establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
Availability to work two shifts per month, including one weekend shift.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care, counseling, and education to a designated patient population in ambulatory, inpatient, operative, and/or procedural settings.
Perform complete histories and physical examinations.
Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Develop plans of care and follow-up based on diagnostic, laboratory, and physical examination findings.
Order medications and write prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures.
Provide high-quality, timely documentation, including admission and progress notes, procedure notes, operative notes, and discharge summaries.
Perform bedside procedures appropriate to the patient population.
May precept a small group of learners.
