About The Position
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking an Inpatient Psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Hospital. The Icahn School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry is a vibrant community of clinicians, researchers, educators, and trainees committed to discovering the causes of, and better treatments for, mental illness and substance use disorders. We are ranked nationally in NIH funding, and listed as one of the top regional hospital departments by U.S. News & World Report. The Mount Sinai Behavioral Health service line encompasses the clinical behavioral health services at Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Morningside, Mount Sinai West, Mount Sinai Beth Israel, and Mount Sinai Queens. We have over 350 inpatient behavioral health beds and 4 psychiatric emergency locations (CPEP/Psych ED), and had over 1 million ambulatory behavioral health visits annually. Mount Sinai’s Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Psychiatrist for a 25-bed general adult Psychiatric Inpatient Unit at its flagship hospital located on the Upper East Side of New York City. Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,171 bed tertiary-care facility internationally acclaimed for excellence in clinical care, education and scientific research. MSH serve as major teaching site for the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai faculty appointment commensurate with experience. Our compensation plan considers your years of experience post-residency as well as specialty and sub specialty board certifications. Requirements
- Board certified or board eligible Psychiatrist
- Possess NYS license to practice medicine
- Excellent clinical knowledge and communication skills required
- Outstanding teaching skills
- Must possess highly collaborative and proactive approach, and demonstrate commitment to high-quality, cost-effective health care
- A strong work ethic and desire to participate in and grow a team-oriented, performance-driven department
Nice To Haves
- At least one-year post-residency experience in inpatient/emergency psychiatry services preferred
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues as an integral part of a health system
- Benefit from the education, research, and clinical program of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, one of the top ranked schools nationally
- Share on-call duties with the other inpatient attendings
- Participate in the initial evaluation, assessment, treatment, and disposition of psychiatric patients admitted to the inpatient psychiatry services
- Supervise inpatient rounds
- Supervise psychiatry residents and rotating medical students in their clinical duties.
- Provide six (6) weekends of coverage per year at the Inpatient Unit
