About The Position

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking an Inpatient Psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Hospital. The Department of Psychiatry is a vibrant community of clinicians, researchers, educators, and trainees committed to discovering the causes of, and better treatments for, mental illness and substance use disorders. The Mount Sinai Behavioral Health service line encompasses clinical behavioral health services across multiple Mount Sinai facilities, with a significant number of inpatient beds and ambulatory visits. This specific role is for a Psychiatrist on a 25-bed general adult Psychiatric Inpatient Unit at Mount Sinai Hospital, a major teaching site for the Icahn School of Medicine. Faculty appointment will be commensurate with experience, and the compensation plan considers post-residency experience and board certifications. The department offers a collegial environment in a growing department in New York City.

Requirements

• Board certified or board eligible Psychiatrist
• Possess NYS license to practice medicine
• At least one-year post-residency experience in inpatient/emergency psychiatry services preferred
• Excellent clinical knowledge and communication skills required
• Outstanding teaching skills
• Must possess highly collaborative and proactive approach, and demonstrate commitment to high-quality, cost-effective health care
• A strong work ethic and desire to participate in and grow a team-oriented, performance-driven department

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues as an integral part of a health system
• Benefit from the education, research, and clinical program of Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
• 90% Clinical, 10% teaching
• Share on-call duties with the other inpatient attendings
• Participate in the initial evaluation, assessment, treatment, and disposition of psychiatric patients admitted to the inpatient psychiatry services
• Supervise inpatient rounds
• Supervise psychiatry residents and rotating medical students in their clinical duties
• Provide six (6) weekends of coverage per year at the Inpatient Unit
