Assists licensed pharmacists in technical duties related to medication preparation and distribution. This role involves accurately selecting, preparing, and labeling medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. The technician will also assist with medication distribution, screen phone calls, manage daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking. Specific duties may include documentation for controlled substances, performing nonsterile compounding, sterile IV admixture using aseptic technique, and inspecting medication storage areas. The role may also involve completing medication admission histories, assisting in training other technicians, supporting departmental goals, and performing data entry for record keeping, insurance verification, and label generation. Additionally, the technician may be involved in third-party billing functions, obtaining immunization certification to perform immunizations under supervision, and operating a vehicle to deliver medications and supplies.
