About The Position

Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, the pharmacy technician prepares, distributes, and transports pharmaceuticals, including hazardous drugs. This role also involves interviewing patients to complete medication reconciliation. Pharmacy services cover all hospital patient populations, including newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Employees may handle hazardous drugs in accordance with USP 800 guidelines.

Requirements

  • Graduate from Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or two years of college education.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (PHRMTECHR).
  • Minimum of one year of hospital experience.
  • Ability to prepare hazardous solutions and IV additives.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with IV Additive.
  • Experience with Unit Dose.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, distributes, and transports pharmaceuticals, including hazardous drugs.
  • Interviews patients to complete medication reconciliation.
  • Provides pharmacy services to all patient populations of the hospital (newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, etc.).
  • Manages, stores, prepares, receives, unpacks, transports, disposes of, or administers drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by NIOSH and in accordance with USP 800 guidelines.
