About The Position

Following established policies and procedures and under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the Inpatient Pharmacy Technician prepares and distributes medication and performs functions essential to pharmacy department operations. The role also oversees training of new technician staff and operates within the guidelines of the Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code—Pharmacy Examining Board—Pharmacy Practice Sections. Other duties may be assigned. The position is onsite at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is a 1.0 FTE role with 40 standard hours per week, working rotating first and second shifts and rotating weekends.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Application for Wisconsin registration as a Pharmacy Technician is required by the hire date; registration must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
Obtain Pharmacy Technician certification within 6 months of hire by passing either the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam (PTCE) or the National Healthcareer Association exam (ExCPT).

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of work experience in a hospital pharmacy department is preferred.
For decentralized technicians, at least 1 year of work experience in an outpatient/community pharmacy is preferred.
Graduation from an accredited pharmacy technician training program is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare and distribute medication under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Perform functions essential to the operations of the pharmacy department.
Oversee training of new technician staff.
Work within the guidelines of the Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code—Pharmacy Examining Board—Pharmacy Practice Sections.
Perform other duties as assigned.
